Funk Band: The Amsterdam-based funk champions Lefties Soul Connection are considered a major and most influential force in contemporary dance funk. The collective have brought their vision of strong, striking, uncompromising club funk with a touch of soul and African-American music practices, enhanced with the 70's funk, to the level when European dance floors simply can' t do without them.?The attraction from Amsterdam has managed to rise above the flood of nufunk movement with their revival based on a solid and raw rhythmical foundation, their explosive and inspired performances featuring no artism and complications and their line-up featuring no brass or wind instruments that are so typical of funk ensembles. Not only does their basic line-up consisting of drums, bass, guitar and expressive keyboards in combination with hip-hop and rock stance use the patterns of their predecessors, it upgrades them using new-school arrangement techniques that take the audience to an interesting inter-genre voyage. They draw both from old-school instrumental funk (e.g. Meters), mod rock as well as organic-sound hip-hop the likes of Roots, Beastie Boys and Jurassic 5. Yet it is not their intention to copy but to find the place for their aggressive sound using their own, mostly non-vocal composition. Since the founding year of 2001, Lefties Soul Connection have recorded two full albums – »Hutspot« and »Skimming the Skum«. As the creators and protagonists of the new-wave funk they have infected Europe, USA and Japan. The gained the affection of the international party scene based on their strong "beats", which was particularly popular among b-boys or breakdancers, while those most sceptical were convinced after hearing the exceptional interpretation of the Dj Shadow's track »Organ Donor«.
